While Sunday matinees went on as planned, evening performances for all Broadway shows on Sunday, October 28 and Monday, October 29, have been cancelled. The suspension of the transit system? forced Broadway to shut down as it would be difficult for theatergoers to get to and leave the theaters.

"The safety and security of theatregoers and employees is everyone's primary concern. As a result of the suspension of public transportation by government authorities in preparation for Hurricane Sandy, evening performances will be cancelled tonight, Sunday, October 28th, and Monday evening, October 29th," Charlotte St. Martin, Executive Director of The Broadway League said.

Those who had tickets to any show during these times may get a refund. Those who bought their tickets through Telecharge or Ticketmaster via phone or online will get a refund on their credit card within 7-10 business days.

Those who purchased tickets at the Box Office can go back to the theater's Box Office and may get a full refund for the show's tickets or they can be exchanged for another date.

Those who bought group tickets must contact the Group Sales Agent for information about how to get a refund.

Shows that don't usually have performances on Mondays will not be affected by these changes.

Hurricane Sandy is a Category 1 hurricane. As of Sunday afternoon, it is located in the Atlantic, off the coast of North Carolina.
